My Big Day

Hi, Ella here! I had a big day today. Pink Lady and I went on a long car ride from Napa to Folsom so we could see Queen Tina and I could have my vet appointment. I love to ride in the car so that was fun. When we got to Petsmart there were lots of friendly people there who kept telling me how fabulous I looked and it made me feel like a movie star. I have lots of friends at Petsmart and they take my picture and give me big hugs so I am happy to go there anytime!

The vet said even though I look good, I still have a lot of mites in my skin so Pink Lady has to double my medicine and give me my coconut spas every three days. She also said I get to keep eating and eating and eating! This was the best news of all cuz boy do I like to eat! When I was a little puppy before Queen Tina came and saved me, I didn't have any food to eat and I felt so sick and terrible. Now I'm the happiest girl in the world because I have all the food I need, and guess what? I weigh almost 22 pounds! That might not sound like very much but two weeks ago I only weighed 13. They don't call me Ella-phant for nothing! Sometimes they call me Chunky Monkey or Elly Belly. I think these are the nicest compliments!

So, it  was a very nearly perfect day...except that I peed on the passenger seat of the car on the way home and then I couldn't sit over there anymore and look out the window. I thought for sure Pink Lady would clean it up for me so I could go back to looking out the window. She always makes everything so nice for me.  But this time, she didn't make it nice. She just kept driving and said, "Well Ella, that's what you get for peeing in the car. Too bad, so sad." Sigh.

Family

Ella here. I hope everyone is having a warm, safe day with food for your tummies and love for your hearts. Remember that family is just the people who love you and throw a ball for you and don't care if you're bald. Maybe you have known them forever or maybe you only met them last week. They might have two legs or they might have more but if they make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and they make you feel safe and most of all if they make you feel like you belong and you will never be alone, that's a family.
Here's me with part of my new family...

Jasper is the best "tug" partner ever and he always shares his toys with me cuz that's what family does! He also shows me all around the backyard and lets me know where all the good smells are.

I want to say thank you to Queen Tina and the kingdom of Pit Crew for finding me a family. I'm the happiest pit bull puppy there ever was! Have a happy day everyone~

Fun And Games

Ella here. I just love to play with toys and love to play games. Pink Lady always makes sure I have plenty to do between my many naps so I don't get bored. I am a lucky puppy because I have so many toys. Pink Lady also gives me these big long sticks that taste so good I chew on them for hours. I don't know what they are but Pink Lady says she'll tell me when I'm older. For now she just calls them Bully Sticks.

It's been raining a lot lately and I do not like to get wet unless it's for my coconut spas so we've been playing lots of indoor games. Pink lady throws my toys down the hall for me and I run after them and scoop them up in my mouth and bite them so they make a squeaky noise. The Mr. Bill toy doesn't squeak though. When I bite him he says, "Ooooh noooo!" When I run down the hall with Mr. Bill in my mouth saying "Oooooh noooooo"  that just cracks Pink Lady up every time!

I really like it when Jasper the lab comes over, which is almost every day. He likes to play tug with me. Our favorite toy is a big mouse with long legs and arms and we each grab part of it and pull and pull. I like this game because I get to practice my tugging and my growling. Jasper is very big compared to me and very strong but I don't give up and pretty soon Jasper is panting and has to go to the kitchen to get water and I'm not even tired so I think that makes me the winner!

Snoozy

Ella here. I am feeling pretty lazy and snoozy, like I just want to dream and snore the day away so I asked Pink Lady if she could put up some of my favorite pictures for my blog today. I hope you like them...

Hippo Lips Etc.

Well, my name is Ella of course but Pink Lady says when you love someone, you call them special names. She must love me a lot cuz she calls me all kinds of silly stuff. Miss Thang, Smelly Ellie, Elli-phant, Princess Stinky Pants, and Hippo Lips to name a few. The last one I don't like so much because it always comes with a good face squishing. She says she can't help it. Sometimes when we go on walks and she wants me to hurry up she says, "Come on, Grandma!"

I like all of my names since lots of names means lots of love but my favorite is still Ella. Every night when Pink Lady tucks me in to my big warm bed, she gives me a gigantic hug and says, "I love you Ella and that's why it's my favorite.

What Are Britches?

Hi. It's me, Ella. I have been living with Pink Lady and her friend Mr. David now for a few days and boy is this better than how things used to be. I still get my coconut spas every other day and I sure do look forward to that nice warm water and I get a massage too. Imagine being a puppy that gets a massage. Pink Lady even puts a heater next to me during the spa so I stay warm the whole time. Sometimes she sings a song to me called "Demodex Down The Drain" I also have all the delicious food I can eat, lots of treats, and the most luxurious little bedroom a puppy could ever want. It's just big enough for me and my nice soft bed and my new heating pad. I am meeting lots of nice people and animals here. Everyone is so happy and they are all just so nice to me. If they keep acting like this, one day I will have no choice but to trust them

Yesterday we went for our first adventure past the lawn. Pink Lady said, "Ella, I'm going to walk back to the barn and you follow me as long as you can. When you feel tired, we will turn back. Let's go." Well I did go and I went fast! It was the first time my legs felt strong enough to walk very well and walk I did-all the way to the barn! I just kept walking and walking. It just felt so good. I must have been going a little too fast because I passed Pink Lady and then I heard her from behind me shouting things like, "Ella, no! Not towards the horses!" "No Ella. Stay away from the goats!" "Ella!" "Ella!" "Ella!" Then suddenly, SCOOP! I was up off the ground and in her arms. On the way back to the house she said, "Oh Ella, tomorrow we will be starting leash training because I'm afraid someone has gotten a little too big for their britches!"

I Am Ella. I Smell Like Stinky Coconuts. This Is My Story

Here I sit all cozied up in my pretty little doggy bedroom, on my pretty, soft dog bed,  feeling......well, pretty! It hasn't been this way for long. My name is Ella and just three days ago, I was out wandering all alone, abandoned by my humans. I was very hungry, very cold and as you can see, pretty sick with something they tell me is called demodex and it makes your skin turn into one big painful, oozing scab. Then on top of that, all your hair falls out and you feel terrible on the inside too cuz you're the puppy no one wants to hold and you're the puppy that doesn't make anybody say, "Awwwwwww....."

Well just when I started to become the saddest puppy ever, you won't believe what happened! I was saved by a queen! I know she's a queen cuz she's real pretty and after she saved me, she said, "I have to go see the Kings!" That's when she gave me to a nice lady with pink hair and pretty pictures drawn on her skin.

I have been living with Pink Lady for two days now and I like her because she tells me I'm beautiful about 100 times a day. She pretends not to notice that I smell just terrible from my skin infections. She just lights candles.  She isn't afraid to pick me up and cuddle me even though my sores ooze all over her. She just washes her clothes. She also feeds me lots of yummy meals and treats that The Queen sent home with us in our care package.

Yesterday Pink Lady said, "Ella. You've been through a lot. You know what will make you feel  better? An afternoon at the spa!" And with that, I got a nice warm coconut shampoo and soak. I was a little scared at first because everything is so new and I'm still not feeling too well but Pink Lady was real gentle with the coconut spa and pretty soon I started to really enjoy it. Here's the best part...after the soaking, I got to go outside and lay in the warm sun. Pink Lady said, "No more than 5 minutes, Ella, or you'll burn." I don't know what that means but for that 5 minutes of sunshine, I didn't feel hungry, I didn't feel cold, or sore or scared. I felt warm and comfortable and healed and happy.

Later that night Pink Lady gave my face a squeeze and said, "Oh Ella. You are so beautiful. And you smell like stinky coconuts."
